Okay, that’s not the biggest issue facing foldables, but it is certainly a deal breaker for many. And it’s not like the Find N5 had major problems in other categories. That said, the N6 brings several important upgrades to the camera and battery.

Oppo opted to increase the battery size to 6,000mAh (up from 5,600mAh) instead of slimming down the phone. That means that the N6 has the same thickness (4.2mm opened, 8.9mm closed) and weight (225g vs. 229g) as the N5. Again, those stats weren’t an issue on the older model. We do appreciate that Oppo upgraded the hinge to IP5X dust resistance (water resistance is the same at IPX8 plus IPX9).

The other big change is the more capable camera hardware – a 200MP main sensor (1/1.56”, up from 50MP 1/1.56”) and a 50MP ultra-wide (up from 8MP), plus the outer and inner selfie cameras now have 20MP sensors (up from 8MP). The telephoto camera is new too, but on paper the 50MP 3x/70mm module appears similar enough to the 50MP 3x/75mm module of the older phone.

That is something that we will investigate in our review – we already popped open the box and had our first look at the Find N6, now we are starting on our usual tests. In the meantime, we wanted to know what you think of the new foldable.

The Oppo Find N6 will compete against the likes of the Honor Magic V6. Both use the same chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Oppo may have the better main camera (200MP vs. 50MP, both 1/1.56” sensors), while the Honor could offer better telephoto shots (with a larger 64MP 1/2.0” sensor and wider f/2.5 lens vs. 50MP 1/2.75” sensor and f/2.7 lens for the Oppo). The Honor also has a bigger battery – 6,660mAh for the global model and 6,850mAh/7,150mAh for the Chinese model vs. 6,000mAh for the Oppo.

Speaking of, the Find N6 became available in several regions this Friday – the base 12/256GB model starts at CNY 10,000 ($1,450/₹135,000). However, Oppo confirmed that the N6 will not be available in Europe, so it’s mostly targeting Asian markets.
